Dublin Tech Summit. Changing Lives & What to Expect.

1980’s. 2017. This event is in 2017. The school system is still living in the 1980’s. This event is saving generations.

It’s not that people are lazy and don’t have ideas. People were forced into this belief system that “college” is the only way to succeed. This is backed up by subjects that don’t inspire, nor teach us anything that would make us want to speak out or make a change.

It results in a bunch of zombies hustling through their work day so that they can live on the weekend. Sure, I now know what rock I’m standing on, but did I ever learn how to talk to people, or my rights? I sure learned that I couldn’t visit the bathroom.

And That paper that you get after you graduate. It doesn’t guarantee you anything anymore. Events like this, they do. Dublin Tech Summit, what a modern school should have looked like.

Hormones, you heard about them. You probably even learned about them. It takes time for them to enforce change. The nervous system? It’s rapid. The Dublin Tech Summit is like a nervous system. SCHOOL = HORMONES. We are still waiting for an effect to take place, but it isn’t fast enough.

This event, especially for students, life changing. Here’s why.

It doesn’t matter what your dreams are. This event will tell you about how the world looks today. If marketing courses in college aren’t talking about Snapchat, they are not up to date., In terms of passing exams, it doesn’t matter. But in the real world… “Today” is everything. It matters. Being up to date is everything. Being aware of that one change that you were never told of, it can make all the difference to your business, or for you as an employee. If you know what works today, you work better.

In school, you are forced into a system that doesn’t give you freedom. You can be 18 but may still have to ask for permission to go to the bathroom. “An bhfuil an..” Daniel H. Pink talks about how punishment and lack of freedom have an impact on you. You might think punishment encourages, it does the opposite.daniel

So, without even taking any classes, you are already against them.

By the end of your first year, you are trying to puke out the phrases you memorized in French, that will pass you your exam, rather than learn the language. Here’s the big question. In school, are you learning how to pass an exam, or how to how to be the best version of yourself?

The Dublin Tech Summit brings people that can make you better, together. And does so at the cost of school books.

Punchline? Schools aren’t teaching us what will make us successful or what will make us better. It doesn’t do that.

200 speakers. All it takes is one idea, one sentence, one spark. And the ripple effect can start on society.

What Do I Expect?

Headaches. I am not joking. 200 speakers. Only one body. I need to prioritize who I will see. I wish we could freeze time to see all of them. We can’t.

Knowing that there’s going to be technology that can save lives there, comparing it to never having a computer class in school. It’s quite a difference. It makes a tremendous difference to students.

He will tell you the truth. Often harsh, he also knows most people won’t listen, so he tells it all. This is a talk that you must see.

“Just be prepared to hear one of the greatest keynotes of your life.”

Opportunity for Dreams to Happen

Startups will have an opportunity to showcase their products, ideas, and services. 10,000 attendees, all it takes is one investor, one journalist, all it takes is one individual to notice a product. That one individual can provide that one idea that will make this product even better. That one individual can share it and make it viral.

The power of Women

This event is also about showing that anyone can do it, and if you look at the long list of speakers, you will see that the ratio is almost evenly split. The Dublin Tech Summit team? Full of women. This event is here to highlight the importance of women in the tech industry.
