There are books, and then there are books that will change your life if you read them. But a lot of books that help repeat each other. This post is about the 4 books that will change your life if you read them. All of them, about a different topic. All of them, useful in life.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson
I preordered this book by Mark Manson before it was out and became a hit.
I knew this book would show a different approach to the standard writings on how to live a happy life where the main purpose is to be positive.
The first step to changing your life? You need to control your life. Knowing how to build a brand or a business is worth nothing if you are not okay.
This book is a reminder that most of us care about too many things. And that instead of being sad about how bad things are and trying to just think positively, that we should stop caring about too many things. It’s a reminder to choose what you care about.
Example? Bukowski. At the age of 50, after a life of failure, some editor took interest in him. The small independent publishing house couldn’t offer him much money or such, but it was the first real opportunity he ever got. He wrote back to the editor with an: “I have one of two choices-stay in the post office and go crazy…or stay out here and play at writer and starve. I have decided to starve.”
He went onto sell millions of books.
How did he succeed? From the fact, he knew he was a loser, accepted it, and wrote about it. It was the fact he was honest and didn’t care. If he said that he was the best, maybe he would have never done what he did.
A very wise quote in the book states: “Notice how sometimes when you stop giving a f*ck, everything seems to fall into place?”
And most importantly, the true equation of happiness is present in this book!
That it’s not the lack of problems that makes you happy. It’s the process. It’s the solving part. Problems will never stop. Happy people solve them. Always. Happiness is doing. It doesn’t just come.
Am I giving away too much? Oh, absolutely not. This is just a little sneak peek into a book that offers an incredible amount of value without any bullsh*t. This is one of the books that will change your life if you read them, but on the highest level out of all the mentions here!
Cracking the Code by Jaret Grossman
Jaret Grossman is a life coach. A lot of people hate life coaches.
I personally had a pleasure to work with him.
And let me tell you, what you will learn in Jaret’s book will change how you look on everything. This book will develop you as a person!
If you are at the bottom or near the bottom in your life right now and need a book to bounce back, Cracking the Code is how you do it.
This isn’t the first book that attempts to help you bounce back but it is written in the best way. It helped me tremendously. I’ve never seen as many truths in one book as this one.
The most significant one?
“Science will lead you to believe certain things, but science is underdeveloped. What it says today, is totally different to what it will say 100 years from now.”
If you want to find your purpose, develop deeper relationships, realize your potential, Cracking the Code is the book that will help with that!
Writing Without Bulshit by Josh Bernoff
We mentioned that the first book is without any bullsh*t, and well, this book is about how to write without that.
And that’s vital.
Regardless of what you do, you will have to write. Whether pitching a client or just trying to get hired. Writing is an essential part of our life.
I consider this book as the bible of writing effectively.
Regardless of how good you think your writing is it could always be better, and this book will make you realize that the small little things you are doing are costing you a lot!
How are you going to win a pitch if, by the time you even get into it, the reader is gone?
This book has helped me land clients and work with many of the top brands on this planet. Sometimes it’s not about what you offer but about how you write it.
Not everyone is a writer, but everyone needs to write.
The most important takeaway? “Eliminate everything you don’t need.”
Crushing It! by Gary Vaynerchuk
If you want to grow your brand whether that’s a company or just you as a person, there’s only one person you need. His name? Gary Vaynerchuk. And he is quite incredible. He was talking about the world of social media before social media was a proper thing.
First, you need to know what to care about. Secondly, you need to develop as a person. Thirdly you need to realize that how you write matters and make the changes, and lastly, you need to succeed in the social media game. It’s not a must, but if you want to build any company or you, in 2018, social media is how you do it.
Crushing It! is a follow up to Crush it! which was written just about 10 years ago. That book then was mostly the same except it had no evidence, and of course, some platforms changed since then and more importantly started existing! Crushing it! is everything you need to crush it on the internet.
And while it has everything on succeeding on social media, the first half of the book is actually spent on getting you to do. Reading is not enough. And this book also makes you act. That’s vital. Without acting, all of the advice given in this book is worthless.
Oh, and lastly, pretty much everything in this book is also available on Gary’s YouTube channel. This just puts it all together.
