Well firstly, we don’t just review products, we test them out to extremes. That’s what we did with the Dry Days Mac by Ministry of Supply. We tested it out to a level that we knew all the flaws. Most people don’t do that. They get a product, and they review it right away or within a short while. That’s not going enough when it comes to products that aren’t cheap for an average user.

Best Blazer under $200 - Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer

And when it comes to whether is the Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer worth it, I look at blazers from a perspective of that if I could only have one, would it be the one I would be fully happy with?

Is the Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer worth it on paper? Yep. Absolutely. The features it comes with would make it seem like the best blazer for under $200 for sure. And it seems like no blazers apart from the ones from Ministry of Supply offer the features mentioned.

But we had to find out in our typical fashion. Hence we took this blazer on a trip to Thailand and South Korea. Long travel. Little space. Heat. Rain. Yep, we tested it.

Compactness Matters, Except You, Don’t Look for It Because It’s Hard to Find Blazers That Provide It.

Majority of blazers? You get them for the materials. Not with this Going Places Blazer by Ministry of Supply. See, Ministry of Supply is all about the features. They make clothing that makes lives easier. A premium material is great, but it can only do so much if it’s premium but not with features.

This blazer doesn’t come with any of the premium materials that you would expect in a blazer at a price point of over $200. The materials that it comes with though combined with the right design makes this Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer worth it even without the premium materials. For instance, this is the only blazer I know of not including Ministry’s other blazer of course, that I can put into a small carry-on without having any issues. And it even fits into briefcases.

This Ministry of Supply Going Blazer is the most compact blazer ever! It folds so well it will fold into a size of your shirt. And that’s not a joke. That’s my favorite thing about Ministry of Supply products. They are just extremely travel-friendly. And that matters especially in the fall and winter when traveling. And if there’s anything that makes this the best blazer for under $200, this is the reason.

Imagine this. You are walking. It gets hot. You want to take the blazer off but can’t fit it into your briefcase, well, you can fit this one. And you’ll still have plenty of space after.

What About Wrinkles Though?

If you are going to fold a blazer as I did, you might be able to put your blazer away but what if it gets cold and you want to put it back on? This is where the Ministry of Supply Going Places really shows that it’s the best blazer for under $200! And this is where the Ministry of Supply overall standouts with all of their products.

I hate wrinkles. As somebody that travels every month, if a piece of clothing has wrinkles, I’d rather not bring it.

I don’t know about your trust issues, but one of my biggest trust issues is with ironing. Now, some blazers require ironing, and some require steaming but either way, putting trust in a random iron to remove wrinkles on your blazer is slightly crazy. Is the Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer worth it if you travel a lot? As far as convenience, it is absolutely the best blazer for under $200!

Pockets Matter!

If I never saw this Going Places blazer and somebody asked me whether the Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer is worth it, the first thing I would ask about would be the pockets. Compactness is that best feature in this blazer as no other blazer provides it, but it’s not something most people expect.

Pockets though? They matter. And that’s something that blazers and jackets overall constantly disappoint me with, over and over again.

Our phones are massive in 2018. iPhones included. A blazer better be able to fit my phone fully. Luckily, the fitting part is often not the big problem with blazers unlike with jackets, but the lack of zips is. I just don’t get how one can trust pockets in a blazer.

Blazers make you look rich. That makes you a bigger target. Having zips is the only way I know to eliminate stress. And this Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer provides zips. Under the flaps, you will find zips that nicely blend in with the blazer just like with the Dry Days Mac.

But the Pockets Inside Could Be Better!

This blazer has two pockets outside like any normal blazer, but instead of having just one pocket inside, it has two. One for coins/keys and one for a phone or passport. Great, so why are you saying they could be better?

If this is a blazer that can be folded in numerous ways without getting wrinkled, you will be taking it off a lot. And things that are not zipped go missing. Trust me. We lost plenty of products like that.

The pockets inside are great and I appreciate that there’s two, even though the one that could fit a phone doesn’t really fit a phone full, but the pockets inside should also have zip as that hugely eliminates the potential of the usefulness of this blazer.

To put it this way. Great pockets. More pockets than typically. But the ones inside should have zips to fully maximize the usefulness of the features of this blazer, especially considering the features this blazer offers that we will dive into soon enough.

Oh, and there’s a hidden pocket for your passport on the outside of the jacket. A very clever pocket that’s so well hidden that I almost forgot to mention it.

The Big Question You Have to Ask Yourself Is, Are You Looking for Something Formal or Casual?

This is the big problem with this blazer.

From my understanding, this is Ministry of Supply’s first shot at blazers, and well, they did make an improved version not so long ago that also costs over $100 more, but there’s just something odd about this one as far as formality goes.

That’s why you have to ask yourself this question.

It looks great casually, but there’s just something missing in the design. For one, it doesn’t have a pocket square slot absolutely killing fashion potential both in terms of being formal or casual, but it also has a slightly weird button positioning making it look a lot less formal. But speaking of buttons, they are actually a lot more convenient than on a typical blazer.

Is the Ministry of Supply Kinetic Blazer worth it as far as styling goes? Not always. I recommend it casually but not formally. The lack of a pocket square is the big issue. And it just doesn’t just look like a blazer that can be fully worn with suit trousers at a wedding for instance.

It’s Super Stretchy and Great for All Kinds of Weather Conditions!

Ultimately, if a product doesn’t make your life better, what’s the point of talking about it? If you are wearing a blazer for $200, chances are you don’t have your own limo and will be using the metro, and even if not, sometimes you will run, or have to jump, and even the best blazers can rip. Ask Pep Pep Guardiola about that. He knows a few things about blazers ripping.

This Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer doesn’t disappoint. It stretched. I even ran. It survived. With comfort. That’s usually not the case with cheaper products, except this one is only cheaper because there’s a new version out. And the fact it stretches make it even better for the casual activities you might do with it making it the best blazer for under $200.

Oh, and it’s also great against the rain with its water repellant fabric. A massive thing to have. Especially in countries where it rains a lot.

Not that we enjoyed testing it out. Of course, your hair will get wet, and so will the rest of your body, but your shirt inside will be protected at least.

And on the other side, it’s also very breathable for when it gets hot. You will notice it when you switch blazers with your friend!

Oh, and you can totally wash it in the washing machine!

Weird Sizing Situation for a Blazer

This goes back to this being their first shot at it.

The best blazer under $200 is only the best if it also fits you great. And, if you are wondering if the Ministry of Supply Going Places Blazer is worth it from that angle, it’s a no for a pretty significant number of people. See, it comes with normal shirt sizing. And that’s ridiculous.

I have the S that fits me perfectly, but that would fit me better when buttoned with a slightly bigger size. This issue would not happen if there were sizing like with normal blazers, available. Now, you should never expect a perfect fit from a product, but this blazer was overall pretty close to it!

If you are willing to wear this more casually, are okay with the sizing issue and the lack of zips on pockets that don’t have any zips normally anyway, this is the best blazer for under $200. The features that it offers, it absolutely makes it the best blazer for under $200!
