There’s a bunch of touchscreen gloves out there. Not so many touchscreen leather gloves though. And that is a problem if you want to look stylish in 2019. But we found a pair. One with premium pricing. Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere. Are they the best leather touchscreen gloves out there? And are they worth the price tag of $175? Or will you need to keep sacrificing the warmth of your hands whenever you want to check how to get somewhere on your phone?
They Come in Just One Color
And that’s a good thing.
If they didn’t come in this color, there’s a high likelihood that you would have gone for a black pair.
There’s nothing wrong that choice. But if you want to stand out on the streets, black is not the way to go as far as leather gloves. It’s just boring. Perhaps not boring to an average person, but if you are in a city of people that dress well, boring.
This burgundy color, back in the 1930s, almost 100 years ago in 11 years, when people overall dressed well, it was the norm on the streets.
You might not be a fan of them when looking at them through images, I frankly really wanted a brown pair of gloves, but once you wear them and see how practical these are, you will really not look for any other colors.
We’ll dive into the quality of these later on, but if you are to invest $30 in 5 pairs of gloves versus getting one high-quality pair in this color, I would choose this color. It just goes well with pretty much everything that you put on.
The Best Leather Touchscreen Gloves Need to Be Great With Touchscreens
Ultimately, quality matters, materials matter, looks matter too, but if you are looking for touchscreen gloves, they need to perform.
And these? Whether it’s the iPhone or an Android phone, whether it’s Samsung or OnePlus, these are fantastic.
Turn your phone on right now and do something. That’s exactly how great you will be able to get things done with these when you have them on. There are no delays on feedback, precision is perfect, and all of the material works with the touchscreen. Why? As Fort Belvedere added a touchscreen enabling substance directly in the leather tanning and dyeing process. Most brands would add a touchscreen solution into the inside of the gloves after the tanning and dyeing process which does work but is nowhere near as effective due to the fact depending on how you press, they might or might not work, and that is a big problem if you are typing or such.
The Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere behave like your skin, and that makes them the best touchscreen gloves as far as touchscreen use goes, and we included some quick videos demonstrating use. Of course, these will not allow you to use the fingerprint scanner though.
The reason why this $175 price tag is important is that due to the much better leather treatment and actual leather used. Fort Belvedere state that a downside of touchscreen gloves is that the process does make them stiffer, less soft and supple. And perhaps that is the case compared to their other gloves, but overall, Fort Belvedere as a company makes some very soft and supple gloves, and that makes a massive difference as far as using a phone with them, as at the end of the day, you want flexibility in your fingers.
However, there is a flaw. This probably isn’t the case with most gloves by Fort Belvedere, but these are cut by hand, and that means that there is always the possibility of imperfection. My pair? The right glove was cut slightly longer. Not by much by any means, and this wouldn’t be a problem with just a normal pair of gloves, but when it comes to touchscreen gloves, this matters as having that extra bit of material on the thumb which I will use the touchscreen glove the most with will make that smooth use of these gloves much less smooth as that extra material means that that glove isn’t as close to my skin at the thumb sector as in the other parts of the glove. And that makes precision hard when I use that thumb. But I do assume that this is just a rare issue, and Fort Belvedere does offer a 14-day exchange if you aren’t pleased.
If you read any clothing reviews of any sorts on our site before whether that’s Thursday Boots reviews or Mugsy Jeans review, then you know that we really care about comfort more than looks. It’s about clothing or accessories making your life better. And these Fort Belvedere Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves do make your life better.
We already mentioned that these gloves are very soft, even if Fort Belvedere does overall have softer gloves. That helps a bunch. What helps even further are the quirks that these come with. We want to be as comfortable with what we wear as possible, and the addition of quirks makes a massive difference in comfort as far as gloves go.
Mugsy Jeans are phenomenal because they stretch when you move allowing for much easier movement. Quirks? They are these little triangles between your fingers that allow for much better movement which does help tremendously as far as comfort goes. Something that you will only find on more high-end products. There’s nothing worse than when you have limited movement due to what you are wearing. Especially since you aren’t just wearing gloves for the style. They need to be practical. And these are which further adds to why people might call them the best touchscreen leather gloves.
These gloves can only be the best leather touchscreen gloves for you if they fit you perfectly. Anything that isn’t perfect can result in not enough precision, and that will have a major impact on your use of these Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere.
My measuring tape? It was faulty. That’s the only explanation I have for ordering slightly too big gloves even though I was 100% sure they were going to be too small. Now, Fort Belvedere has a great video on how to measure the sizing to make sure these are perfect for you, but in my instance, mine was slightly too big. Not too big to a point that it would cause me too much inconvenience, but big enough to a point I knew they weren’t as tight as they should have been. But even being slightly too big, they did an incredible job of keeping me warm, staying on my fingers, and working great with my phone, which shows their quality once again. The button closure added at the bottom of them does for sure help with that though.
This is where that $175 spent on these comes into play though. Even though these are slightly too big, when I wear these compared to cheaper gloves that do fit me better, these Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere still look far better as far as fit. That’s due to the fact that these Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves were sewn with special glave sewing machines which allow for a far more precise fit. But even if they were hand sewn, they would still have a better fit than gloves that are mass produced because that’s what happens when you by at this price range, when you aren’t buying from companies that charge for their logo.
People wonder why you should invest more in the clothing/accessories department, but this fit factor is a perfect example of why paying extra makes a difference. And people will notice that when looking at the gloves of other people.
But What About Their Quality?
Ultimately you are paying $175 for gloves for their quality.
We already mentioned the fit, the quirks, the superb feedback when using a touchscreen, and that all adds to the quality, but what about the fabrics?
These Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere are made from lamb nappa material which isn’t the worlds best leather for gloves but is very close to it. And it’s the highest grade Italian leather. And that shows when you use smell them and feel them.
For one, these smell like leather. I’m not sure if you are a fan of that, but if you are buying leather products that don’t smell like leather, then you aren’t buying a quality product.
Secondly, these feel much more superior when touching compared to just about all leather gloves I ever touched. And I touched a lot as while I didn’t get every pair, checking out different shops in different countries is something I do often out of interest.
Inside, these come with Italian cashmere lining which is the softest glove lining out there and does, in fact, feel fantastic but most importantly works great as far as protection goes in the cold, as ultimately, gloves are meant to keep you warm. How do they pass at keeping you warm? Great. That has to do with the quality of material and the attention to details put in with these. Provided you do not take them off when outside. They won’t make you warm right away if you do. But don’t expect to feel to warm with them either. I’d say that these are gloves that will won’t make you feel cold nor warm, just normal. I’d say that you should be fine up to -14°C & 6.8°F with these.
The attention to detail is just crazy with these.
But they aren’t fully perfect. Going back to any of our reviews, you would know that we test products out to their full potential. However, we had an issue with these that arose from normal usage. Those button closures that they include? I love using them. They do keep gloves in place much better. But they are also inconvenient to button up. Most of the time, I had to ask somebody to button them up for me as it was too hard to do myself. And that’s not it either. One of them ripped when I was buttening these up around 3 weeks into using them. And that is not good enough. I get that the possibility of that happening is probably pretty low, but it happened, out of all the possible gloves, on these $175 pairs. Something to consider.
I never asked for an exchange or never reported it so I do not know if that would have been possible, and potentially that’s something I will add into this review later on, but it is something I for sure had to mention as I currently cannot button up my left glove, and it’s slightly weird to look at it, knowing that there is a part missing.
Made in Hungary. Ship From the US. What The…
This was explained to me. I also undestand it. It’s done by a lot of companies too. And I get it. Wearhouses are ridicously expensive to run. Fort Belvedre has most of its customers in the US too. So in many ways, it does make sense, but perhaps the reason it has so many in the US is due to this issue.
This is a Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere review, and while this has nothing to do with the gloves, it needs to be mentioned.
These are made in Hungary. Not China.
I understand the problems, but it doesn’t make it sound any less ridiculous. If you live in Europe or just beside Hungary or even there, the fact you need to get them shipped from the US is ABSOLUTELY CRAZY. It makes want to use a bunch of bad words in this review.
THIS IS WHY LIVING IN EUROPE IS TOUGH.
Buying most products in Europe is more expensive, involves much higher shipping costs, and involves paying duties.
That’s why a lot of companies have more sales in the US. Did you know I can fly to the US and pick them up for as much as it will cost me to get them? On a good day, a flight with Norwegian to the US only costs $80. The cheapest shipping method to Europe costs $68 with Fort Belvedere. The best? Around $131. If the gloves cost around $175, then the duties for these will be around $40. If you want to buy more products that ship from the US perhaps from different companies, it’s going to cost even more. I prefer flying to the US than spending all that money on shipment.
Your punishment for being in Europe? A minimum of $108 extra. And that would really not bother me if it wasn’t for the fact that these are actually made in Europe in the first place. That’s my issue with this.
Are These Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves by Fort Belvedere Worth It? Are They the Best Leather Touchscreen Gloves?
As far as the best leather touchscreen question is concerned, without a doubt. These are fantastic for use with phones. The lack of colors? It might seem like a problem, but only until you put them on. The fit, the comfort, the quality, the fact these work so well with touchscreens, it makes these Burgundy Touchscreen Dress Gloves worth it. These gloves are a great example of why you should invest in your gloves.
They aren’t perfect with that little too much material on my thumb and the fact that one of the buttons fell out, but mistakes happen, and when something is pretty much handmade, issues can arise with certain models. But even if that, we would recommend them every single day as you do have that 14 days to return them, and they are the best touchscreen leather gloves available. In 2019, having touchscreen gloves is a must. Unless you aren’t planning on using your phone. And if you are, if you want to be stylish, these are the best touchscreen leather touchscreen gloves for you if you are looking for pure leather.
