Looking to spend one day in Stockholm and it’s going to be raining? I’d still go if you have your tickets booked. It’s much cheaper to fly to Sweden and back than to stay there from most locations in Europe. And if you do it right, you can get a lot done in one day, even when it’s raining. You might not be able to afford a full week trip, or you might not have the time, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun in Stockholm.
Especially since Stockholm has an excellent transportation system.
ABBA: The Museum
DO NOT TELL ME THAT YOU DON’T KNOW ABOUT ABBA!
If you don’t know ABBA, then you know ABBA but just merely don’t know that the songs you listened to before were sung by them. Either that or you are too young to be on this blog.
ABBA is a legendary band formed in 1972 that has sold hundreds of millions of records. But this is not a history lesson. The museum is though.
If you are into music, history, or ABBA, just one of them, then this museum is the place you need to visit.
A tram stops just beside the museum so even if it’s raining, you should not have a problem getting there.
ABBA: The Museum is the place you go to if you want to find costumes, instruments, awards, and other tools used by ABBA.
You can even the helicopter used in one of their videos there. It’s the place you go to sing covers of the songs which you can then download on their website. It’s where you can virtually try out ABBA’s clothing and test yourself on how well you know ABBA
Of course, a museum is meant to teach, and that’s what it does. About the individual artists, songs, and the band itself.
And with ABBA re-starting in 2018, isn’t it a great time to relive some of their old days?
Only in Stockholm. Rain or no rain, ABBA: The Museum is worth visiting!
Are metros not that thing that you love to use for the ease but also hate at the same time?
Most metros suck.
But not the Stockholm metro.
London and Paris are just a nightmare to get on. Stockholm? It’s a heaven.
They are actually usable. You don’t need to rush into them.
But that wouldn’t make them a tourist attraction.
See, metros in Stockholm are art. Museums underground.
Viking vibes, underworld vibes, Pac-Man vibes.
Over 90 stations have art that’s worth witnessing.
And since metros are mostly underground, you will not get wet, and if it stops raining, it’s convenient for you to get out wherever you want whether it’s in the old town or not.
Stockholm has the most beautiful metros in the world. Explore them.
As weird as it might be to do so everywhere else, in Stockholm, it’s okay to do. And it’s totally worth it.
There are pictures you can take on your phone. There are pictures that you can take with your camera. But there are pictures that are viewable, and then there are pictures that are art. Fotografiska is where art is.
Anyone can take a picture, but it takes real skill to take a great picture. If you visit Fotografiska which is a gallery in 3 different locations in the world, your mind will be blown by what’s possible.
You don’t need to be into photography to appreciate what’s there.
If you love stories, that’s what these pictures tell. They are not just random pictures, but rather collections put together to form a story or create a feeling.
From X-ray photos to photos of poverty to photos of hygiene to photos of extreme calmness.
Although, what I saw is most likely what you will not see as pictures are often changed. And that’s great as you can always go back to this place and be amazed.
