Loafers? One major flaw. They fail to make your life easier. They just look great, and that’s pretty much it. We aren’t about that here. We care about products that make your life better or easier. The Thursday boots Lincoln Loafers? Are they the best loafers for men?
To make this Thursday Boots Lincoln loafers review a bit more interesting, we compared these to the Swims Braided Laced Loafers.
Which ones are the best for you? And should you perhaps get both?
If Looking to Go to the Beach…
If you are looking to go to the beach and to be in the water with sharp rocks, the Swims Braided Laced loafers are designed to be drenched in water. No need to get one of those ugly pairs of shoes for that.
Their washable mesh fabric is all around created for water, meaning that it’s very comfortable to be in the water with these. And since you can lace them up, you don’t have to worry about them falling off. Due to their fabric, after you finish with your swim, your Swims will dry out in no time
The already mentioned lacing system also makes them a much better choice for adventures overall. You can kick the ball with them without having to worry about your loafers falling off.
That doesn’t mean that the Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers aren’t able to handle water, but they aren’t designed for water to the point that you can go swimming with them, nor aren’t adventure ready to the point that you play football with them.
With that said, the Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers are a great option if you want to go to the beach without getting sand into your loafers, or without getting wet, as while the Swims are designed for water, the Thursday Boots are designed to protect you against water. That’s as these like many other Thursday Boots come with Goodyear welt construction which allows for resistance against water.
The Thursday Boots will keep you dry in puddles or even streams, provided that the water doesn’t hit you from over your ankles. That’s not the case with the Swims.
What’s even more impressive about Thursday Boots, though? That their material will remain fine after contact with water. That’s where Thursday Boots overall stand out over other companies. We have drenched their boots in streams of water, and they dealt with it without any issues while keeping you dry.
We don’t have quite as many compliments for either the Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers or the Swims when it comes to comfort.
The Swims? You will most likely get bloody blisters after the first time you were them, and if you haven’t worn them for quite some time.
The Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers are significantly more comfortable than quite a bit of loafers that we tried previously, so perhaps lack of comfort is overall a loafer thing. Still, that comfort is nowhere near the level of what we got used to with the Thursday Boots boots that we previously tested. Perhaps that has something to do with the lining used inside of these.
When it comes to comfort, the Thursday Boots Explorer boots are currently our favorites.
No Show Socks Show on the Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers
Something we found quite annoying when rocking the Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers is that “no show” socks showed.
And quite a lot.
This has to do with their shape.
Luckily, this is not a major deal as I personally prefer rocking funky socks, but something to consider if you are planning to rock a pair during summer with shorts.
Pro tip: If wearing no-show socks with the Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers, don’t wear white ones if you plan to go to visit someone. They will stain your socks in an orange tint just like some of the other Thursday Boots such as the Captain stain your socks black.
The Swims? You more so wear them barefoot, but overall it isn’t as much of an issue with them as they come with a different shape.
This is where the Swims and the Thursday Boots loafers separate.
The Thursday Boots Lincoln Loafers will last for years and will end up looking far better in the long-term if you take care of them In fact, after having them for almost a year, the leather already looks far better than originally.
We’ve been on some rocky beaches with them with the leather being abused by rocks, and they are no sign of damage on them, and that speaks for the quality of the leather they use.
This isn’t the case with the Swims. The Swims are never going to get better, and you won’t be able to fix them once they break. And that’s even though these are both very similarly priced. Considering the Swims are rubber, they are also going to become harder to clean as time goes past. I already have issues.
However, you do overall have the advantage of being able to put the Swims into a washing machine to freshen them up, if needed.
…Once they break, though, that’s it.
The perks of Thursday Boots is that they come with Goodyear welt construction meaning they can be reconstructed if needed, therefore meaning you can use them until loafers get banned or something.
Neither of these loafers belongs to the most beautiful pieces of loafers we ever saw.
They are pretty good looking, but there’s also a lot of companies doing some unique stuff when it comes to loafers, and frankly, we found the Thursday Boots loafers quite dull as far as color.
We got the Lincoln loafers in natural, and while that choice worked great with the Captain boots, it just looks pretty dull with the loafers. Imagine taking a picture and taking out all the saturation. That’s how they feel.
Luckily, Thursday Boots released a brown and mahogany, and both of them look far better, and we hope to do a review of that version soon.
The Swims? They are the more casual set. You can wear them on a date or when going to the beach while not trying to be too dressed up, and they work for that, exceptionally well.
The Thursday Boots on the other side, you put them on, and you automatically mean business. You can also rock them casually as they don’t have that ultra boring formal look, which goes for all Thursday Boots products.
One of the most vital aspects of boots or shoes is the grip. And this is where premium and not premium products are often separated the most.
Loafers aren’t shoes that I’d try out in intense environments such as with the Explorers, which I highly recommend the review of, but with that said, I do still expect great grip that will prevent me from sliding around, and the Thursday Boots loafers deliver on that. But to be fair, the Swims have a pretty good grip too, at least for the summer months.
The Thursday Boots grip or rather the sole on these is pretty loud, though. Extremely loud. You will be heard. That isn’t the case with the Swims.
But just like on the other Thursday Boots, the grip is practically untouched even after a year. I mean, look at it. It looks like it’s brand new. And in the future, as we already mentioned, you will be able to get re-done.
Are These Thursday Boots Loafers the Best Loafers for Men?
The Thursday Boots Linclon Loafers don’t offer everything we wished the offered, but they improve on a lot of things that standard loafers fail to do, at a very reasonable price of $170.
But we also have to give it to the Swims Braided Laced Loafers. They are a fantastic choice if you are looking for a pair of loafers that work in situations where standard loafers don’t, such as going to the beach.
Frankly? We recommend that you get both of these loafers, especially if you live in warmer countries or near the beach.
